Nigel TURNER

Nigel Turner is an abstract and semi-abstract artist currently living and working in SW London.
Turner’s work is firmly anchored to a modernist perspective. The influence of modern British masters or ‘Mid-Century Modern’ is clearly reflected through the texture of the painting.
‘It is often difficult to express the motivation and drive for the work or ‘the juggling between pre-conception and improvisation’, but I find this statement by Adrian Heath a good explanation!
Q. Adrian Heath from 1964 interview with fellow abstract artist Robyn Denny;
'I believe that the function of a painting is to create an 'emotional' experience, the first person to appreciate this experience is inevitably the artist but the picture should also be capable of generating an experience in the minds of any number of people who subsequently see it'
