Jo Ham
HAM is the brainchild of artist and illustrator Jo Ham who gained a BFA in Fine Art with a specialism in anatomy from Oxford University's Ruskin School of Art. HAM seeks to celebrate the everyday. Jo has always been fascinated by popular culture and uses Rabbit to shine a light on life’s simple moments - in particular how we interact with one another through work and play. The resulting social commentary creates HAM's happy world, where our daily rituals, likes and hobbies are immortalised in print for all to enjoy.
In 2018, Jo was awarded Natwest's UK Creative Industries Entrepreneur of the Year and in 2019 the Aviva Women of the Future Arts and Culture Prize. In 2024, Rabbit was selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. In 2023, Jo launched her first two picture books, Yippee! Rabbit and Uh-oh! Rabbit in partnership with Walker Books UK, Candlewick Press America and Walker Books Australia. Ham's third book, Oops! Rabbit, then followed in early 2024. With board books of the series scheduled for 2025, Jo is currently working on her fourth addition to the Rabbit series.
Aside from HAM, Jo is also a visual artist. Using photograms and digital imaging she blurs the lines between drawing and photography, fashion and fine art. Recent commissions include artwork for Saatchi Gallery London, Nike, The Berkeley Hotel and Eurostar.
